I don’t know what has got into my head. For the last two days, I have been fighting with a strange problem with Oracle 10g’s TNS Listener.

I could not establish a connection to from the remote clients, the TNS Listener was not responding at all. And at the end I traced to problem to a misconfiguration in the /etc/hosts file of my server. Oh silly… A mistake that has costed more than 10 hrs to resolve.

Otherwise the installation of Oracle 10g on Linux is much smoother when compared to the earlier versions of Oracle databse.
